ENTRY A casual get-together for golf and cocktails in the famed Wynstone community sounds like great fun to your friends, who eagerly accept your invitation to enjoy an afternoon and evening at your new home. After meeting at the Clubhouse, they follow as you guide them through eighteen holes, marveling at the Jack Nicklaus designed course and gorgeous surroundings of lakes, wetlands, forestry and the amazing rear elevations of residences! The winners are heralded, and then everyone piles into cars to caravan deep into the woods of the exclusive neighborhood until they arrive at your lovely home. Turning onto your asphalt drive, your guests proceed a little uphill toward your house at the top of the mound. They park on the apron fronting the garage, where a basketball net lets them know that someone has been practicing layups! They're impressed by your three-car garage, fronted by taupe raised panel doors and guarded by a pair of flanking black iron coach lamps, each housing a single beacon of light! Gazing up, your friends are charmed by the dormers while, next to the garage, they mistake the architecturally significant service entry for the front door as they smile noticing four stone steps leading to a triple-arched portico brightened by a single overhead recessed light! As your friends begin to circle your home, they savor the gables, the stone sills and the stone keystones centering the soldier course masonry framing the windows. They whisper among themselves about the rustic peace as they meander through your wooded rear grounds first, shaded by elms and firs, that surround the enviable recently complete flagstone terrace boasting ample space for your grill and outdoor furniture. They love all of the stone detail: natural cut stone tops a brick retaining wall to offer additional casual seating; stone walls guard one side of the terrace as well as framing a valley where the ground dips; and a cut stone plant well spotlights an area grounded in wood chips and hosting a couple of chairs and a table you've thoughtfully placed for guests who seek a private conversation around the fire pit among ferns and prairie grasses. Stepping onto a prominent aggregate stone walk that inclines slightly and ribbons of beds of flowers, bushes and wood chips, your guests continue past a fruit tree and descending stone stepping path to arrive at your entrance. They gaze one more time at your home and share their admiration for the exquisite stone that defines the entire front entrance and framing archway, then ascend four stone steps, the first announced by a pair of large natural stone urns adorned with grapevine appliqu s and acanthus detail holding flowering petite hibiscus trees. A square pillar topped by a substantial black iron, beveled glass coach lamp harboring four uplights, anchors guarding the steps on either side, a wall of natural stone. As your friends alight upon your front veranda, they're guided by a single recessed light far overhead. A Palladian window sits above a transom defined by beveled glass diamonds and etched glass that tops your stately raised panel door, painted a soft dove shade, served by oiled pewter hardware and edged by a pair of slim sidelights repeating the transom's patterns. Your friends ring the doorbell intercom while you are searching for them! They wonder what your home looks like inside and cannot wait to find out! FOYER (18'6" x 12') You've arrived just ahead of your guests and, given the extra time they've taken to survey your grounds, you've made sure your staff has everything under control. The cocktails and hors d'oeuvres are ready for the taking as you answer the doorbell. Your friends enter and are immediately awe-struck by your two-story foyer washed in light streaming in through the Palladian window, which draws their attention upward. They notice that the ceiling is punctuated by oak detail shaped into a pair of concentric octagons centered by an oiled bronze base dropping a matching chain holding a delightful chandelier defined by 16 up lights supported by swirling oiled bronze arms and protected by upward facing antique gold bell shades. Walled in a subtle taupe and smoke faux paper, the foyer previews the style throughout your home: oak hardwood flooring; raised panel oak doors served by polished brass lever hardware; cased windows baseboards and crown molding; ivory ceilings; and audio system speakers and intercom throughout. Your friends next regard your fabulous, angular staircase sided by a pair of scrolling bannisters topping classically carved newels and balusters. A plush latte runner protects the staircase, which curves so that visitors cannot see more than the first half-dozen steps. However, it ascends to a fully exposed balcony lining your upper level promenade, which your guests find enchanting! Your generous foyer has space for your Persian rug and foyer table or chest. On either side, a single archway is separated from flanking narrower arches by a pair of square columns. As they begin to accept champagne offered on silver, handheld trays, your guests are excited to step through the archways to see where they lead! GUEST POWDER ROOM As they begin to mill around, your attention shifts to a guest who asks to use your powder room. You take her jacket and scarf and lead her down a short hall adjacent to your foyer and illuminated by dual overhead recessed lights. You stop to open the double door concealing your guest coat closet, enlightened by a single recessed light, and hang your guest's jacket on the double closet's polished chrome rod, laying her scarf safely upon the double upper shelf that spans the width of the ample closet. At your right, you open a single door and gesture your guest into your charming, generously sized powder room. She is delighted to see the oak flooring and molding continue, maintaining the integrity of the decor as the molding also frames a side window topped by a sheer, embroidered, Chablis caf curtain and valance, and she loves the light touch of free-stroke gilding adorning the deep plum walls. She also admires the oval lavatory topping a single, rounded base, cabinet served by oiled bronze key hardware, adorned with rope, acanthus and fleur-de-lis detail shielding a double shelf for towels and sundries. Under mounted, surrounded by polished caramel marble, the sink is served by brass spread lever faucetry. A wall mounted ring holds your beaded finger towel while, above, a hexagonal, beveled mirror, framed in gilded dentil and floral detail, is brightened by a polished brass, triple down light with hexagonal shades of clear beveled glass. The Kohler commode is served by a polished brass handle and matching paper holder. A separately controlled fan supplies freshness, while the ornamental polished brass vent cover completes the chic decor. DINING ROOM (16'7" x 12'7") Many of your guests have strolled through the archway from your foyer into your formal dining room, where the foyer's wall treatment continues. They love looking out onto your front grounds through your dining room's full-height, divided triple window delicately dressed in smoky spice sheer panels and a matching valance grasped by twin, classically scrolled, acanthus carved, subtly gilded corbels. Supplementing the natural light, an oiled bronze, intricately carved candelabra chandelier holds six up lights shielded by fluted ivory glass shades. Suspended on a short chain from an artful, triple tiered, reverse rectangular coffered ceiling treatment centers the room. Your guests notice the ornamental vent covers that repeat from your powder room. Your spacious dining room accommodates your table for eight, along with a breakfront and sideboard. Celebrating a traditional holiday with extended family? The table can be extended or a second table added for meaningful seating right into the foyer-even invading the living room! A family that prays together stays together! LIVING ROOM (16'8" x 14'5") A group goes hunting for a couch and finds one across the foyer in your living room, where the carpeting repeats the staircase runner. Your foyer's wall covering extends to the wall it shares with the living room, while the remainder of your living room's walls melts into a neutral vanilla. A front, full height bay window graces this room, with each clear glass panel topped by its own champagne sheer shaped to form a classic valance as it drapes over a gilded ridged rod capped by fluted, carved finials. Yet more natural light streams in through divided, twin single, full height windows repeating the window treatment and presiding over your gorgeous side grounds. Your friends enjoy a chatty conversation, cocktails and canap s amid the opulence! LIBRARY (14'10" x 14'5") Because your guests are eager to view your entire home, you've left ajar the double beveled glass French doors, topped by a beveled glass dual pane transom, that reveals your sunlit, first floor study. Your friends take one step down to land upon mochaccino woven carpet. The first thing they notice is the abundance of light! You, too, appreciate the natural light when you are working on a project or just absorbing a best seller novel. Quadruple, full height windows, covered by strapped wood blinds, span each of two adjacent walls; one looks out upon your side grounds, while the other offers view of your rear grounds. Four recessed spot lights illuminate the room as dusk descends. Your friends and colleagues admire the handsomely milled room's exquisite, true relief oak wainscot topped by a rich acanthus print in shades of pine with touches of blush, merlot and tan. A third wall is defined by a built-in, oak, triple five-shelf book case, topped by cherry molding and split by fluting detail beneath recessed rosettes, with each column settling into a double base cabinet fronted by raised panel doors served by polished brass pulls to conceal the unsightly supplies and the inner turmoil of a true working office. Your study offers ample space for your stately desk and credenza, with room left to place an armchair and floor lamp for comfortable reading. GREAT FAMILY ROOM (24'2" x 21'7") You follow the sound of high activity, which has traveled to your magnificent grand room. Your guests rush over to you to express their delight with this two-story Shangri-la! Sunken by one step, your family room is floored in a plush, charming floral print against neutral, pale putty walls. High above, twin fans field five wooden paddles each, while spying your upper promenade through this side's balustrade opposes the view from your foyer. Your guests are amazed by the grandeur of the dramatic double story, quadruple window and arched transom, emitting plentiful natural light and offering views to your rear flagstone terrace and woods-lined grounds. A corner single clear glass door opens to a descending outdoor staircase leading to your patio. High above the door, a large transom window welcomes in even more sunshine! Although you normally reserve it for a chillier day, you've decided to light a fire for the pleasure of your guests! They are thrilled to see the full height, corner, key starter gas hearth in masonry boasting arched soldier course detail, with a firebox protected by an iron screen shielded by a reflective black glass double folding door framed in satin finish brass. The hearth sits upon a generous masonry ledge to hold your statuary, urns and fireplace tools, while your oak mantle presents a surface for candlesticks, framed photographs or trophies. Your guests enjoy all of it! On the adjacent wall, your built-in cherry entertainment center repeats your study's cabinetry style, with the addition of rope detail on the crown molding. The center column's large open compartment accommodates your flat screen TV, DVR and DVD player beneath a double upper cabinet, while the flanking columns, fashioned with recessed upper shelving, show off favorite books, family photos and artifacts you've carried home from abroad. Below, a pair of side-by-side drawers tops a base cabinet to conceal your CDs and DVDS. As daylight fades, six overhead recessed lights, including one directional light you can aim at the hearth, take over the duties of brightening your grand room. A bordering hallway, illuminated by twin overhead recessed lights, provides access to and from other areas of your home. A squared archway topped by a retro, distressed teal wall appliqu carved with fruit defines a second entrance, leading to your breakfast area and kitchen. KITCHEN & BREAKFAST ROOM (18'3"x 15'9") & (12'10"x 12') More joy and light-filled space is discovered within your wonderful kitchen and breakfast area! The oak flooring continues beneath a double tray ceiling, each rimmed with oak crown molding. Your cherry kitchen cabinetry is served by pewter open lattice pulls. Your guests comment on your upscale granite of flowing butterscotch and caramel with flecks of plum. Your kitchen is equipped with high-end, stainless steel KitchenAid appliances: side-by-side refrigerator/freezer served by substantial pulls; the brand's Superba double oven, dishwasher and refuse compactor. Backing your Jenn-Air Expressions range, boasting four burners and a slim griddle, and your Kenmore, stainless steel, wall-mounted microwave, is a blush and champagne, tumbled marble style ceramic backsplash designed in a diamond pattern with pewter medallion inlays. Illuminated by a single recessed light, your shower stands one step down from the raised platform behind it, where three wall-mounted hooks grab towels and guard a second private nook protected by an additional glass-block wall, this one with 8" x 8" blocks, that houses your Kohler commode served by a polished brass handle and paper holder and lit by an overhead light with a fan on one side and exhaust on the other. Twin single doors within your spa lead to generous his-and-her walk-in closets, equipped with multiple sturdy steel rods, white wooden shelving, a white chest of five drawers and, in her closet, abundant cubbies, baskets and shoe racks. A built-in desk, repeating in style from your study and brightened by a single recessed light, accommodates a bank of three drawers siding kneehole space beneath a single drawer; above, three white shelves hold books and knick-knacks of a baby or a college student! A Jack-and-Jill bath, floored in 12" x 12" milky tile against mist walls and ceiling, sits between bedrooms 2 and 5 to serve both. A small valance that repeats the fabric of bedroom 2's window panels tops the bath's single window white wood blinds. The cabinetry and integral sink repeat in style from the master bath, except here the sink is served by polished chrome single lever faucetry. A double base oak cabinet rests beneath a faux drawer splitting a pair of small drawers topped by a full wall mirror illuminated by four down lights shielded by subtly patterned white classic bell shades mounted on a polished brass bar. A trapezoidal Lucite towel ring upon a white base is mounted on the wall. The Kohler commode, polished chrome handle and white paper holder repeat from the master spa. The 6" x 6" lily ceramic tile surround of the white tub with shower gleams beneath the overhead shower light. Served by polished chrome single lever faucetry and a white, wall-mounted soap dish, the tub is guarded by an attractive silver and white panel with rope detail. Just outside, a wall-mounted polished brass towel shelf holds the occupant's towel while, overhead, a light/fan whirs softly. BEDROOMS 3 (15'2" x 12'6") & 4 (15'1" x 12'9") WITH JACK 'N JILL BATH Also on your upper level, bedroom 3's deep mustard walls contrast the sloping eggshell ceiling, centered by a white five-paddle light/fan. A white ribbed rod with round finials threads the integral rings of dual dusty blue panels that protect the room's front triple window topped by a Palladian window. A single door opens to a closet equipped with white wire rods and ample shelving. The striking, wide black color block that ribbons the perimeter of otherwise white bedroom 4 provides a clean, artful background for photos and paintings. Overhead, a white fan repeats in a tray ceiling. This bedroom contains a nook, brightened by a single recessed light, accommodating a built-in oak desk with a triple bank of drawers siding kneehole space. A closet lit by a single recessed overhead light and equipped with white wire rod and a double door fronts shelving, while a rear double window topped with white wooden blinds sits behind twin black panels linked by a black-and-white checked soft valance with three bands of red. The Jack-and-Jill bath between the rooms repeats the flooring and cabinetry style of the other family bath. With a ceiling that slopes on two sides, the bath boasts textured chocolate walls. Twin sinks repeat the other bath's faucetry and top massive cabinetry that comprises a double base cabinet beneath a pair of side-by-side drawers flanked by two triple banks of drawers, each sided by an extra-wide double base cabinet beneath a faux drawer splitting a pair of small drawers. Backing the sink, two wall mirrors are split by another wall mirror beneath a double oak-cased, side-facing window cornered by carved rosettes. A single door opens to a private area housing a Kohler commode served by a polished chrome handle and white paper holder sitting beneath a ribbed Lucite towel rod. The white tub, repeating the other bath's faucetry and soap dish, is protected by a black curtain suspended from a rod on colorless rings. A handsome black wall-mounted shelf is fashioned with cubbies to hold paper rolls and hooks to hang towels. ENGLISH LOWER LEVEL From your kitchen, a descending staircase to your lower level is illuminated by an up lit sconce housed in a white glass bowl with brass trim and finial, guided by an oak handrail and covered in ivory woven carpet that blankets your lower level against oak baseboards. Your sprawling lower level is perfect for entertaining small and large groups alike, and also can serve as a teen cave or Toys R Us for the tots and wee ones. At the bottom of the stairs, a door brightened by a single overhead recessed light opens to a closet ideal for storing towels and linens serving yet another full bath! RECREATION ROOM (24'6" x 21'2") The focal point of your lower level entertainment area is a full height, corner, natural cut stone, raised gas hearth that sets the mood for any gathering! Protected by a black and brass folding screen, the raised hearth holds gas logs served by a key starter and sits within the aim of twin adjustable recessed spots, which are supported by a total of 16 recessed lights in this L-shaped area. Add a sofa and perhaps an entertainment unit for a cozy, comfy setting. The other leg of the L forms the Billiard Room (18'3"x 17'6") is ideal for your pool table; a wall-mounted cue and chalk holder await in a designated alcove. Even here on the lower level, where you least expect it, natural light pours in through adjacent quadruple windows topped by a triple cornice punctuated by a wine, navy and hunter green billiards-theme print that repeats on a pair of tall chairs awaiting fans eager to watch the pool game. A drink ledge extends below and beyond the windows to create an easy spot to rest a pool cue or keep a cell phone handy while playing. Twin ceiling speakers and an audio control panel ensure customized fun! A door in this space leads to a walk-in closet equipped with white shelves to store board games, video games and athletic equipment. An overhead light, shielded by a fluted bowl, keeps the area bright. Backing the main area, your enviable wet bar further ensures that everyone will be having a good time. The bar's overhang wraps around two sides and hosts three polished oak high bar chairs upholstered in the cornice's billiards-theme fabric. Behind the wet bar, your family bartender has every necessity! Tiled in 12" x 12" putty, serviceable tile, your bar's merlot surface tops raised panel oak base cabinetry served by polished brass pulls and comprising three base cabinets and three drawers. Four spot lights brighten your bar. Your white, top mount Kohler bar sink is served by polished brass spread lever bar faucetry. A mini-fridge and microwave nearly establish a fully equipped kitchen, while your stemware hangs from a stem slide built into the oak-framed beveled mirror that backs the bar. Atop it, your baskets of greenery add to the warmth of the room. Through a triple arched entrance, your family and friends enjoy the Game Room (28'4" x 14'3"), an area ideal for poker, Foosball and Air Hockey. A wall-mounted dart board starts things off grandly! Here, the billiards-theme print repeats on four chairs surrounding an octagonal oak pedestal card table, while a soft tile ceiling is embedded with eight recessed lights. Your Mechanical/Storage Room (25'3" x 11'5") resides on your lower level as well, housing your home's major appliances and offering a massive storage area lit by three mounted floodlights plus one overhead bulb in the appliances cove. The "My Three Sons" of the current household are all golf and baseball fans, thus the walls and ceiling were covered with plywood as the remnants of pitching, batting and swinging can still be found for the nets! LOWER LEVEL BEDROOM/FUTURE WINE CELLAR (13' x 10'6") Whether for teens or guests, your appreciated lower level bedroom affords privacy and comfort. A white tub with shower is served by polished chrome single lever faucetry in 8" x 10" white ceramic tile surround and a white, wall-mounted soap dish. Waterfowl Paradise Size: 1,104 acres of prime waterfowl habitat and 240 acres of improved pasture Location: This property is located south and east of Burns, Or. It is about 2 miles from the Malheur Wildlife Refuge to the north.Elevation: 4100' Water: Water is from the West Fork of the Silvies River. It enters the property and is then distributed throughout the 1100 acres by dams, diversions, ditches, and overflows. It will come in the spring, stay through part of the summer and dissipate into the ground towards fall. This leaves ponds, islands, sloughs, waterways, and the river with water. It also leaves quite a bit of dry ground to set up viewing areas, blinds, or areas in which to hunt pheasants. Also water from this area is funneled into the 240 acres as it is used from the 1100 acres. It floods part of it for bird, deer, and antelope habitat right next to the house. This ranch is in the transition stage from ranch to wetland. It is in conjunction with the Federal Fish and Wildlife and Ducks Unlimited. They have put about a million dollars worth of work into this to enhance the wetland habitat. As such they have a permanent easement to continue to en- hance this project and keep it as a wetland forever. This does not keep the owner from hunting, selling or doing whatever is needed on the property as long as it embraces the spirit of the easement. Anything done on the property like cattle grazing, planting grains for birds, or working with the land is a joint effort and as such is done by working with the agencies involved. Different crops can be seeded on the wetland grounds as long as they are shown to help the waterfowl. On the 240 acre site you can do anything you want as to vegetation or crops. It is in crested wheat now and it is used by bird big game alike. Rye, barley, or even corn could be put in this area to bring in more pheasants, antelope, and deer. Also, geese and ducks would be using it. The Refuge is just two miles away and this land gets some huge bucks . Even if you put in some dryland alfalfa it would pull in a large amount and variety of birds and animals.Wildlife: Of course when you get this type of habitat you get an amazing amount and variety of both upland and migratory birds. Different types of ducks, geese, and any type of water birds will be there at one time or another. It is a secluded place with easy access through a county maintained road. There are both dark and light geese so limits are pretty plentiful for geese. You can go just about anytime to it and see an unbelievable amount of birds, deer and antelope. There are also predators that can be controlled and just plain beauty in the landscape. The grass is extremely abundant and was a great place for all of the cattle that used to graze here. That makes super cover for nesting , breeding, and hiding. Thisranch is exciting for the person who loves birds, water, seclusion, big game animals, and panoramic views. This can be bought with an additional 1726 acres that lie to the north of it. It is the same DU and fed land as this....all waterfowl, upland bird habitat. Taxes: $1217 There is a double wide manufactured home on the 240 acres that is not part of the wetland project. This is a great place to come and stay while you hunt or just view the birds. It has a house well and stock well on the property. This property is adjacent and is available for purchase for $350,000

This house is part of a holiday park situated in the north of North Holland. It occupies an ideal location, near the center of Schagen. Here you have free parking! An indoor pool and pond are less than 500 meters away. There are beaches, dunes, forests and theme parks just a short distance from the bungalow. North Holland: a 30-km-long coastline, plenty of water, dikes, polders, dunes, nature reserves, gardens and traditional villages. The delightful cottages (all renovated in 2009) are part of a lovely and child-friendly holiday park which lies just 8 km from the beach. The park has a large playground, various sports fields, a canteen and two outdoor pools. During the high season there is also a recreational team present which organizes activities for both young and old. This very complete and attractive bungalow can accommodate 6 to 7 persons plus a baby / toddler. It has a contemporary interior, a fresh bathroom, Finnish sauna, modern kitchen with dishwasher and oven and a bright living room overlooking the garden. The lush green garden offers sufficient privacy (thanks to the large conifers) in addition to helping you get into an appropriate holiday mood. There are a variety of plants and shrubs which attract birds and butterflies. Also, ducks, frogs and field mice are likely to be your guest. Barbecue, football, pool – it’s all possible here. There's even a trampoline. In the garden you can sit in the sun or shade. There is even room enough to set up a tent. Fun for the children to play or sleep in. As strange as it sounds, the shed is an important area. It contains a freezer, highchair, baby bath, cushions for the garden furniture, hanging chairs, a drying rack, outdoor toys and lawnmower. Of course, there are also bikes at your disposal. There is also a trailer which can carry two children and lots of beach equipment. This still leaves plenty of room for your own bikes or extra belongings. The living room is a great place for a peaceful rest. You can stretch out on the couch and savor the atmosphere created by the candles. Large windows make the living room sunny and bright plus you have a wonderful view of the garden. There is a CV and a wood-burning stove, so you can enjoy a comfortable stay year round. Air-conditioning makes it pleasantly cool in summer. With the LCD TV and DVD player you can keep up with your favorite programs while on vacation! The modern and light kitchen is fully-equipped including a 5-burner gas stove, refrigerator, microwave oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, coffee maker, kettle, pans, crockery etc. A freezer is located in the barn. This fully-equipped kitchen means you can prepare a meal as easy as at home. If you do not feel like cooking you can visit one of the many local restaurants. The dining room is located in a central place. The table is large enough to accommodate 6 persons. For smaller children there is a highchair. Children's plates, cups and cutlery are also provided. You can play games at the table while the children draw beautiful pictures or complete a puzzle. From the table you have a nice view of the garden. The three bedrooms command great attention. All bedrooms can be darkened, and have good ventilation. Mattresses, duvets and pillows are standard. Bed linen can be rented or you can bring your own. The first bedroom has a double bed (160 x 200 cm) which can easily be converted to two single beds (80 x 200 cm). There is ample space plus a wardrobe to hang up your clothes. There is a baby bed in this room or the second bedroom. In addition, there is an LCD TV and a sauna here. Bedroom 2 has a trundle bed. The beds are very comfortable. If desired, the lower bed can be extended to accommodate a third person. When the trundle bed is pushed in, a baby bed fits perfectly in this room. Bedroom 3 has a bunk bed, a wardrobe, clothes rack, radiator and a cheerful monkey lamp. Blinds ensure that the room can be shaded. Under the bed you’ll find a box of toys at your disposal. The bathroom is fully equipped including a shower, toilet, a large washbasin with illuminated mirror and a cabinet with a first aid kit and space for your own toiletries. There is also a washing machine. Wireless Internet is no problem. Just bring your own laptop along. The cost for Internet is € 3. - per day. You can change your administration to your holiday address, make digital holiday cards or send your holiday photos directly online. You can check the weather, research trips in the area or get the latest news! Relax on the couch with your laptop or on nice days surf the net from the sunny garden. There is so much to do in and around the holiday park. Below we have a limited overview of some of the possibilities. Inside the bungalow there is additional information for you. Near the bungalow there is the playground of the park with swings, climbing castles, slides, horizontal bars and other playground equipment. In bad weather children can play in the canteen or play house. There are also a tennis court and basketball court. A very short distance from the bungalow there are two well maintained swimming pools complete with sun beds and sitting areas. There is also a shallow pool for toddlers and preschoolers. The canopy of the pools is designed so that the roof can be slid open in good weather and remained closed in bad weather. This way you have ideal conditions for swimming despite the weather. In the canteen by the pool snacks and ice cream are for sale. Cycling through the North Holland landscape or to the beach is a "must". If you bring your own bicycles, there is space in the shed to store them. The beach of St. Maartenszee is 8 km away. This beach was designated a "Blue Flag" beach, which stands for a very clean beach. Here you can fly kites, build sandcastles or just play in the water, or enjoy a meal at the cozy beach pavilion or watch the sun set, which is the ultimate holiday feeling. The extensive trails through the dunes are eminently suitable for Nordic walking. Enjoy the beautiful bulb fields, typical of the vast North Holland polder landscape where you’ll also find green meadows, farms, windmills, dikes, charming villages and small towns with plenty of cycling and walking possibilities. Authentic villages like Valkoog and Groenveld are also worth visiting. Callantsoog is full of activities: excursions to the nature reserve of Zwanenwater, fairs, events on the beach and cozy cafes, restaurants and bars. The climbing dunes in the Schoorl Dunes Nature Reserve means guaranteed fun for everyone. Schagen itself, in the West Frisian countryside, is a lively town with a nice center, ideal for entertainment and shopping. The large number of shops are not only highly regarded with respect to quality, but also offer plenty of variety. There is also a shopping centre with all the allure of a "shopping mall". In Schagen you can enjoy a day of shopping and then relax at a café or savor a good meal courtesy of the large number of eateries in the city. Not just in the city center but around the church and lining the streets around the downtown area there are many nice restaurants and small bars. All year round - but especially during summer – you will find large events in Schagen. For example, in March / April there is the Paasvee Exhibition; a nine day fair in July; and Popweekend the first week of August. In early September there is a short course harness race plus Agricultural Days, while in between you’ll find various art markets. A visit to Schagen Castle, with its war museum housed in an old tower and museum of West Frisian culture is nothing to sneeze at. In the summer Schagen is bustling with activity as the West Frisian Folklore program is underway from June 30th to September 1st. This West Frisian Market is entirely dominated by West Frisian folklore. Part of the local population can be seen adorned in traditional costume - truly a feast for the eyes! Other cities that should not be missed include: Alkmaar, with its famous cheese market, an old steam train running between Horn and Medemblik, and the naval town of Den Helder with its National Fleet Days. A day on the island of Texel is sure to be a unique experience. Finally, there is the best theme park in the northern part of North Holland: "The Goldfish". Here you’ll find a huge outdoor play area, 3 large covered playgrounds and a cafeteria with extensive terrace. Parents are admitted free. Every Monday (April / October) and every Sunday (November / March) there is a "flea market" where you can buy practically everything. Don’t forget to haggle!
